Thanks to a 22% growth in AUM, Allan Small earned the number 35 spot on this year’s Top 50 Advisors list. Originally motivated to become an advisor by his love of business and economics, Small’s goal is to help as many investors as possible – right now, that means a base of 439 clients.
Small believes advisors’ biggest challenge today is proving their value to fee-conscious investors. “The industry changes,” he says. “People are more worried about the fees they pay than the bottom line, which is what they put in their pocket, net of fees.”
Still, even in the midst of these challenges, Small says the appreciation he receives from his clients makes it all worth it. “There are many proud moments,” he says. “I love when clients tell me that, because of my help, they were able to obtain the goals they set for themselves.”
