Rob Tétrault ends eight years at Canaccord Genuity and brings his full team with him

Tétrault Wealth moves its Winnipeg practice to an independent dealer

Tétrault Wealth, a Winnipeg practice led by senior wealth advisor and senior portfolio manager Rob Tétrault, began operating under Wellington-Altus Private Wealth in October.

Wellington-Altus welcomed the team in a LinkedIn post, and the team marked the change in its own post on October 10, calling it a new chapter for Tetrault Wealth.

The Tétrault Wealth team page on the Wellington-Altus site gives the office address as 201 Portage Ave, Suite 2500 in Winnipeg.

Tétrault’s LinkedIn profile records eight years and six months as branch manager, senior investment advisor and senior portfolio manager at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Canada, from May 2018 to October 2026, and eight years and five months before that as portfolio manager and head of Tetrault Wealth Advisory Group at National Bank Financial, from January 2010 to May 2018.

Alongside him are his sister Tania Tétrault, Rémi Laurencelle and Devon Bailey as investment advisors, Adam Hague as portfolio manager, Adam Buss as senior financial planner, Derrek Funk as senior investment advisor, Karen Kazina as senior investment associate, Marc Foidart as investment associate, Tyson Jensen as marketing associate, Diego Guzman as business development associate, and Patrick Labossière, Jean-Luc LaFlèche and Huguette Vallée as client services associates.

Wealth Professional named Tetrault Wealth a 2026 Excellence Awardee for most innovative use of wealthtech, a category won by Harbourfront Wealth Management when the publication revealed its 2026 award winners at Liberty Grand on June 4.

Tétrault was an Excellence Awardee for portfolio and discretionary manager of the year, and his sister for female trailblazer of the year, with all three entries recorded under Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management.

“We’ve always believed technology should enhance relationships, not replace them,” Rob Tetrault said in the release announcing the recognition.

WP ranked him second on its Top 50 Advisors list for 2021, up from sixth the previous year, and reported he took silver at the 2020 Wealth Professional Awards for advisory team of the year among teams with fewer than 10 staff.

A 2022 Top 50 profile put his 2021 growth at almost $300m in assets under management, with another $200m targeted over the following 12 months and a 20-strong team.

Alternatives weightings across his client base range from 20 to 50 percent depending on the client, with music royalties usually between two and five percent, Tétrault told Wealth Professional in May 2025.

He said he became the first Canadian retail advisor to invest in the music royalties group ICM Asset Management, and he also allocates to farmland, infrastructure, and sports teams.

“The bigger argument about alternative asset classes to me is a no brainer,” he said in that interview.

Transfer penalties have largely disappeared from the industry, Tétrault told The Globe and Mail in April, and digital signature platforms have shortened the paperwork.

“Transfers happen all the time, so there’s no need to fear it,” he said in that article.
