Richardson Wealth trades a century-old name for Nobelia

Advisors keep the 60-40 split and separate entity status as the November 30 rebrand lands

Richardson Wealth trades a century-old name for Nobelia

Richardson Wealth will operate as Nobelia Wealth Inc. from November 30, subject to regulatory approvals.

The Toronto-based firm announced the intended change on September 21 through a release issued under iA Financial Corporation Inc., which acquired it in 2025.

Julie Gallagher, president and chief executive officer of Richardson Wealth, said advisors will see no change to the corporate-partnership model for those seeking independence with support, at a 60-40 advisor-dealer compensation split.

The firm will continue to operate as a separate business entity.

Advisors can choose from three platforms, Nobelia Wealth, iA Private Wealth and Investia, based on their business strategy, Stephan Bourbonnais, executive vice-president of iA Wealth, said in the release.

Each offers different levels of support and access to an investment shelf including mutual funds, securities and alternative investments.

Wealth Professional reported in 2025 that iA planned to run the Richardson brand independently alongside Investia and iA Private Wealth, giving advisors three distinct streams.

Nobelia Wealth "will continue to deliver multigenerational wealth stewardship to families, professionals and business owners across Canada," Gallagher said in the release, adding that the firm remains "backed by the strength and scale of iA Financial Group."

The name carries two references, Gallagher told The Globe and Mail.

The "Nobel" portion alludes to the firm's noble purple colour scheme, and the "ia" connects the firm to the size and scale of its parent company.

Advisors were involved throughout the selection process and were eager to move ahead of a 30-month deadline, she told the same outlet, adding that the name was chosen to protect the firm's culture and its high-touch, independent service model.

Resolving the naming uncertainty should improve external discussions as the firm continues to grow, Gallagher said.

iA Financial Corp. paid $597m for Richardson Wealth and agreed to change the name within 30 months of the deal's October 31, 2025 close.

The Globe and Mail reported the firm has 177 advisors on 141 advisory teams and $47.2bn in assets under administration.

At the time of the acquisition it had 189 advisors on 143 teams and $40.3bn in assets under administration.

Gallagher moved from iA Financial to the top job at Richardson Wealth in March 2026, replacing Dave Kelly.

Wealth Professional reported at the time that her appointment followed the October closing of the acquisition, and that she took on a firmwide rebrand among her first-day priorities

The Richardson name in investment management dates back a century, to the launch of Richardson Securities by James Richardson & Sons, The Globe and Mail reported.

Richardson GMP Ltd. was renamed Richardson Wealth in 2020 after parent firm GMP Capital Inc. acquired the shares it did not already own, and GMP Capital then renamed itself RF Capital Group Inc.
