Former Nicola Wealth president brings three decades of private banking leadership to Citi's Canadian arm
Citi has named Yannick Archambault as Market Executive – Canada, tapping a wealth management veteran with more than 30 years of leadership experience across Canada, the United States and Asia to lead the bank's Canadian Private Bank.
Archambault will oversee a division serving entrepreneurs, business owners, family offices and ultra-high-net-worth families, with a mandate to grow the business through what the bank describes as trusted advice, global connectivity and client service. He is set to join in September, reporting to Citi's private bank leadership with a matrix line to Raymond Gatcliffe, Citi's country officer for Canada.
Archambault joins Citi from Nicola Wealth, one of Canada's fastest-growing independent wealth managers, where he was named president, private wealth in October 2025 as part of a broader leadership succession that saw Chris Nicola take over as president and CEO-elect from founder John Nicola.
Before that, Archambault spent five years at KPMG Canada, joining in October 2020 as partner and National Family Office Leader. During his time at KPMG, Archambault also spoke publicly on Canada's appeal to globally mobile wealth, telling Wealth Professional in 2023 that the country continues to be favoured as a destination for affluent global citizens, citing strong labour and talent pools and a diverse expat population as draws for entrepreneurs and business families.
Earlier in his career, Archambault served as chief operating officer in both Canada and the United States at BMO Wealth Management, and held senior leadership roles at TD Bank, including head of private wealth management.
He has also served as president and chief investment officer of both single-family and multi-family offices; experience that has given him direct exposure to the planning, governance and succession issues facing ultra-high-net-worth families increasingly courted by Canadian wealth managers.
Canadian leadership push
The appointment closes out an interim period led by Tim Sullivan, who has served as interim Market Executive – Canada.
In May 2026, Citi named Dan Leslie Managing Director and Head of Citi Commercial Bank for Canada, a role he assumed in June 2026. Leslie's background includes senior national leadership positions in corporate and commercial banking at HSBC Bank Canada and TD Bank Group. Like Archambault, Leslie reports with a line to Gatcliffe, underscoring the country officer's expanding oversight as Citi builds out its Canadian franchise across both commercial and private banking.
Citi has described its ambition to be Canada's leading international bank for globally minded clients and the appointments of Archambault and Leslie suggest the bank is investing across multiple business lines rather than a single division.
