The IIAC announces upcoming appointment of Tim Currie

The Investment Industry Association of Canada has announced the appointment of Tim Currie as its new managing director. Currie will be settling into his new role on February 28, 2022.

Currie has worked in business development and regulatory affairs at a top level. He was most recently a Principal with CanReg Consulting, where he assisted TD Bank in implementing the client focused reforms across the bank's wealth management division. Tim was previously Vice President Regulatory Affairs at CI Investments Inc., where he was responsible for all the company's lobbying activities with industry stakeholders.

He designed and executed methods for evaluating the impact of proposed regulatory and legislative changes on various operating businesses as Vice President, Policy and Regulatory at CI Investments.

He also headed CI Investments' Policy Team, which included the Chief Privacy Officer and the Anti-Money Laundering Officer, to ensure that all applicable requirements were followed.

Tim formerly worked at Assante Wealth Management as Director, Special Projects, Regulatory and Policy Matters, where he oversaw the effective implementation of important regulatory reforms that necessitated adjustments to back-office processes, account statements, advisor and client reporting.

“We are very happy to welcome Tim to the IIAC team,” the association said. “His knowledge and experience will be an asset to all IIAC stakeholders.”
