The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has announced the addition of Kelley McKinnon, Patricia Olasker, and Steven Wolff to its board of directors, marking a significant step in its ongoing strategic evolution.

Kevan Cowan, chair of the board, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments, highlighting the diverse expertise the trio brings to the board.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kelley, Patricia, and Steve to the OSC's Board of Directors,” Cowan stated.

“Their collective expertise in financial services, capital markets, corporate governance, securities litigation, and risk management will be invaluable as the OSC embarks on an exciting next chapter guided by a bold new vision and strategy.”

Cowan also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing board members, Dieter Jentsch, Frances Kordyback, and Cindy Tripp, for their dedicated service and significant contributions to the OSC's strategic direction during their tenure.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the outgoing members for the dedication and commitment they have shown,” he added.

In the same announcement, the OSC confirmed the reappointment of Cowan as chair of the board. Additional reappointments include Board Directors Mary Anne De Monte-Whelan, Jennifer Fang, David Lewis, and Hari Panday.

OSC CEO Grant Vingoe commented on the appointments, noting the strengths of the new members.

“I am pleased to welcome such a strong group of new members, who each bring a deep understanding of the Canadian capital markets and a wealth of knowledge that will complement an already impressive Board of Directors,” said Vingoe.

He also expressed his satisfaction with the reappointment of Cowan, emphasizing his critical role in continuing to lead the OSC as a more efficient, responsive, and proactive regulator.
