MD Financial Management Limited (MD), Scotiabank, and the Black Medical Students’ Association of Canada (BMSAC) have entered a three-year partnership.

This partnership seeks to bolster social connections and mentorship for Black medical students, residents, and physicians through support for various programs and activities, including community events across Canada, to foster collaboration.

Additionally, the collaboration extends support to the BMSAC’s annual general meeting, providing a critical platform for national connection, learning, and collaboration among Black medical students.

Pamela Allen, the chief executive officer of MD, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its alignment with MD and Scotiabank’s commitment to cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture both within their operations and the wider community.

“We are pleased to team up with the Black Medical Students’ Association of Canada to support professional development activities for their members that deepen connections and provide valuable mentorship opportunities,” Allen stated.

From BMSAC’s perspective, Chair Khadija Brouillette emphasized the importance of this partnership in promoting equitable representation and inclusive training for Black medical students, aiming to better prepare Canada’s future physicians to serve Black communities across the country.

“We are proud to work with MD and Scotiabank to support our mission and build upon the work we are doing,” Brouillette remarked, looking forward to the positive impact this collaboration will have on the personal and professional development of Black medical students.

The agreement positions MD and Scotiabank as BMSAC’s exclusive financial services partner, offering its members access to a wide range of banking and wealth management services specifically tailored to meet the needs of physicians, medical learners, and their families at various career stages.

Through this partnership and their existing relationships with over 40 physician-member organizations, MD and Scotiabank reaffirm their commitment to providing financial support and educational resources to Canada’s medical community.
