Manulife WAM deploys AI tools to cut advisor prep time across Canada and the US

Manulife Wealth says its new AI tool is saving advisors up to 30 minutes per compliance inquiry, freeing time for client conversations.

Manulife Wealth & Asset Management announced three AI-powered tools for its sales and advisor teams, covering compliance queries in Canada, advisor outreach in the US retirement business, and meeting preparation in US retail.

The Canadian tool, built for Manulife Wealth advisors, fields compliance policy and procedure questions.

According to Manulife, it has logged nearly 980 users and more than 5,400 conversations since launch.

The company said 42 percent of advisors report saving up to 15 minutes per inquiry, and 29 percent report saving between 15 and 30 minutes.

At Manulife John Hancock Retirement, a separate AI tool distills what the company describes as millions of advisor signals into prioritised outreach recommendations for sales and service teams.

Since March 2025, Manulife said the tool has generated nearly 2,000 opportunities and approximately 390 closed deals, while cutting time spent on pre-meeting information searches by 80 percent and increasing lead recommendations fivefold.

The third tool, deployed at Manulife John Hancock Investments in early 2026, connects to internal CRM and business intelligence platforms to give retail sales teams plain-language access to advisor profiles, product usage, and engagement data.

Manulife attributed an approximately 40 percent increase in its internal sales team's contact rate to the platform.

The three tools follow Manulife WAM's AI Research Assistant for its Public Markets investment teams, which the company said launched in mid-2025 to accelerate synthesis of financials, transcripts, and other research inputs.

Manulife Financial Corporation, the parent company, said more than 70 percent of its global workforce uses generative AI tools, including its proprietary ChatMFC platform.

The company said it was ranked first among life insurers in the inaugural Evident AI Index for Insurance in 2025.

Performance figures are sourced from Manulife WAM's internal data as cited in the company announcement and have not been independently verified.
