IIAC's leading man will become chairman of ICSA - the first Canadian to be elected into the role in 20 years.

Ian Russell, president and CEO of the Toronto-based International Investment Association of Canada will begin his two-year term as chair of the International Council of Securities Associations, based out of New York, the IIAC announced Tuesday.

“I view this as a strong opportunity to raise awareness of not only ICSA’s role in promoting vibrant and prosperous investment industries globally, but of the Canadian securities industry and our capital markets as well,” Russell said in a release.

Russell will take on his new role following an inauguration at the ICSA's Annual General Meeting in April. He will also continue on with IIAC and as secretary of the Cross-Border Regulation Forum (CBRF), a committee that addresses cross-border regulatory issues.
