Franklin Templeton unveils new fixed-income funds

The new funds are said to ‘help manage risk’ against volatility

Franklin Templeton Investments has launched two new fixed-income solutions. According to a release from the firm, the new products are for Canadian investors who want diversified fixed-income investments.

“Canadians are… unsure about what will happen with interest rates given the recent news out of the US,” said Duane Green, managing director - Canada, Franklin Templeton Investments. “These new fixed-income solutions can help investors mitigate risk in their portfolio and prepare for what's next in the markets.”

Franklin Quotential Fixed Income Portfolio
The Franklin Quotential Fixed Income Portfolio is an actively managed mix of domestic and foreign fixed-income instruments. It is tactically allocated across multiple sectors and regions, including government, corporate, and high-yield bonds that are both domestic and foreign. The fund is co-managed by Stephen Lingard, senior vice president and portfolio manager of Franklin Templeton Solutions, and Michael Greenberg, vice president and portfolio manager of Franklin Templeton Solutions.

Primarily investing in mutual funds and ETFs, the fund will adapt to short-term investing opportunities and risks through adjustments in allocation and currency exposure. The fund distribution can flex from 25% to 75% domestic fixed income, and from 25% to 75% foreign fixed income, which can consist of mutual funds from Franklin Templeton or from third parties.

The Franklin Quotential Fixed Income Fund is available in Series A, F, O and PF.

Franklin Bissett Canadian Government Bond Fund
The Franklin Bissett Canadian Government Bond Fund actively participates in Canada’s government bond market, whose historical stability provides an opportunity for steady income and potentially offset overall portfolio risk. The fund also aims to take advantage of market dislocations through extensive research.

“With Franklin Bissett Canadian Government Bond Fund, we focus on investing in high-quality bonds issued by all three levels of government in Canada and government agencies,” said Tom O’Gorman, director of fixed income, senior vice president and portfolio manager, Franklin Bissett Investment Management. O’Gorman is co-managing the fund with Darcy Briggs, vice president and portfolio manager, Franklin Bissett Investment Management.

The Franklin Bissett Canadian Government Bond Fund is available in Series F, O and PF.
