The 30-year banking and wealth veteran takes the post permanently after holding it since June

Pappas, who lists Toronto as his base on his LinkedIn profile, had held the position on an interim basis since June.
The role carries responsibility for FP Canada’s business development strategy, including organisational growth, strategic partnerships, and the reach of the body’s programs and services.
FP Canada said Pappas will work with internal and external stakeholders on opportunities across its education, certification, and industry offerings.
Tashia Batstone, president and chief executive officer of FP Canada, said in the announcement that John Pappas has already shaped the function.
Pappas brings experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and enterprise relationship management, Batstone said, and can turn opportunity into value while staying aligned with FP Canada’s “public interest mandate.”
Pappas said in the announcement that he will work with partners, stakeholders, and team members to advance FP Canada’s strategic priorities and its mission “in the public interest.”
FP Canada’s announcement credits Pappas with more than three decades of executive experience in financial services, investment advisory, and enterprise relationship management, spanning banking, wealth management, and capital markets.
It names Moody’s Analytics and the Canadian Securities Institute among his former employers.
His LinkedIn profile records 11 years at Moody’s Analytics, beginning as associate director, relationship management in 2013, moving to director, business development and client management in January 2016, and serving as VP and senior director, business development, head of MALS Learning Partners from April 2019 to December 2023.
