CIBC Mellon announces two senior leadership appointments

CIBC Mellon has announced some changes to its leadership team, with new appointments for client relationship and operations roles.

With 30 years in the financial services industry, Richard Anton becomes chief client officer, moving from this previous chief operations officer role. He will take overall responsibility for relationship management, strategic client solutions, product development, corporate communications and marketing functions.

"I am honoured to step into the role of Chief Client Officer with a clear mission to empower our clients to transform and future-proof their businesses," said Richard Anton, Chief Client Officer, CIBC Mellon. "I'm very excited to turn my focus to deepening and strengthening our relationships with our clients."

Meanwhile, taking over Anton’s previous role as chief operations officer is Catherine Thrasher, who also has wide experience in the industry and moves from her previous chief client solutions officer role. Over 25 years, her experience includes BNY Mellon Global Risk Solutions and its predecessor companies.  Her new role includes overseeing custody services, fund administration, investor recordkeeping, pension benefit services, institutional and pension accounting, operational excellence, project management, onboarding, and more.

Strengthening position

Anton and Thrasher remain part of the firm’s leadership team and chief executive Mal Cullen says their appointments help to further entrench the firm’s strong market position leveraging the global capabilities of BNY Mellon.
