Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada has appointed a new chair of its board of directors.

Eric Lidemark, an independent producer and principal of Lidemark Financial Group Inc. in Surrey, British Columbia, has been a member of the industry association for 46 years and has served on its board of directors since 2017.

He has held a variety of roles with the association including a term as president of the Advocis Greater Vancouver Chapter, chair of the Advocis Chapter Leadership Council, and board member for The Institute for Advanced Financial Education, a subsidiary of Advocis.

Five year plan

Lidemark said that he’s honoured to be taking up his new role at a time when the financial services industry is going through transformation.

“To move our vision forward, we’ve implemented a five year plan, with a purpose statement titled ‘Growing Great Advisors’,” he explained. “Through implementing many of the recommendations of key stakeholders and Advocis Members, we're very optimistic about the year ahead as we continue to expand our internal programs, explore opportunities to grow our membership, and ensure that all our member-clients have the proper tools and resources needed to navigate their professional journey with Advocis.
