Insurer gives advisors chance to capture piece of elusive market

A leading Canadian insurer is offering advisors the chance to partner on direct term life insurance offerings.

Empire Life is offering advisors the opportunity to capture part of the growing consumer direct movement by offering Simplified 10 and Simplified 20 term life insurance products online.
"Empire Life believes it is important for consumers to have access to advice from licensed insurance advisors when purchasing life insurance," said Sean Kilburn , Senior Vice President, Retail.

The company is offering digital-oriented consumers the ability to connect with an advisor for advice about life insurance, by launching a new program that offers licensed insurance brokers the ability to add a "Buy Now" button to their websites.

Consumers who click on the "Buy Now" button will link to empirelife.ca and can complete an online application for Empire Life Simplified 10 or Simplified 20 term life insurance, and they can contact the advisor if they need or want advice before, during or after the application process.

Recent consumer research indicates that 69 per cent of consumers use the internet to research life insurance online. “We're finding there are a growing number of consumers who also want to purchase online," said Kilburn.

"Providing the ability for consumers to "Buy Now" through empirelife.ca is an exciting new chapter in how Empire Life can meet changing consumer preferences to buy online," said Kilburn. "A "Buy Now" option will allow us to reach a group of Canadian consumers whose needs are mostly going unmet today.”
