Nest Wealth

Nest Wealth is a Canadian B2B financial technology company that provides digital wealth management infrastructure to banks, asset managers, custodians, and financial institutions. Founded in Toronto in 2014 by Randy Cass, the firm built Canada's first software-as-a-service digital wealth platform and grew to serve clients including several of Canada's Big Six banks. In January 2024, Nest Wealth was acquired by Objectway Group, an Italian fintech firm and Global Top 100 financial technology provider, which integrated Nest Wealth's client onboarding and financial planning capabilities into its broader wealth and asset management platform.

What does Nest Wealth offer?

Nest Wealth operates as a B2B platform provider, selling its technology to financial institutions rather than directly to retail investors. Its core offering includes:

  • digital client onboarding solutions that allow financial institutions to open and manage investment accounts online, reducing paperwork and manual processing
  • automated portfolio management infrastructure enabling firms to deliver managed investment portfolios at scale, including ETF-based strategies configured to client risk profiles
  • financial planning tools integrated with the portfolio management platform, including the RazorPlan financial planning software acquired by Nest Wealth in 2019
  • white-label platform configurations allowing institutions to deploy the technology under their own branding
  • group RRSP plan infrastructure for small and medium-sized employers

Since the Objectway acquisition, Nest Wealth's Canadian platform capabilities have been integrated with Objectway's broader suite of advisory services, discretionary portfolio management tools, and back-office operations technology — expanding the combined offering for wealth and asset management firms across North America and EMEA.

Nest Wealth in the market

Nest Wealth established its position in the Canadian wealthtech market by targeting the institutional channel rather than competing directly with consumer-facing robo-advisors. This B2B focus gave it access to large, established client relationships — the firm has cited serving clients including half of Canada's Big Six banks — and insulated it from the intense fee pressure that constrained the direct-to-consumer digital wealth segment.

National Bank of Canada was an early and prominent strategic partner, making an initial $6 million investment through its NAventures venture arm in 2017 and expanding the relationship with a further minority investment of up to $50 million in 2020. The National Bank partnership underpinned the development of the bank's online savings and investment platform. That minority stake was among the interests included in the January 2024 sale to Objectway Group, in which Objectway acquired 100 per cent of Nest Wealth including the shares held by National Bank.

The Objectway acquisition repositioned Nest Wealth within a larger international software group, with stated ambitions to accelerate expansion into the United States and into EMEA markets where Objectway already operates. Randy Cass described the transaction as giving Nest Wealth's employees and customers continuity, stability, and access to a broader product development roadmap.
