Multi-strategy alternative asset firm announces new hire as it pursues global expansion and development
Sagard Holdings, a multi-strategy alternative asset manager with professionals based in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Tétrault as a Managing Partner in Montreal starting in May.
"We are thrilled that Jonathan will be joining us as part of the core leadership team building Sagard Holdings in North America and Europe,” Sagard Holdings Chairman and CEO Paul Desmarais III said in a statement. “As we expand our investing activity, institutional client relationships and geographic reach, his expertise and operational and strategic skills will be extremely valuable.”
Tétrault was most recently president and COO at Cirque du Soleil, where he oversaw operations and corporate development efforts of all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group businesses. As senior partner at McKinsey & Co., he provided advice on strategic and investment matters covering more than 25 countries for institutional investors, asset management firms, private equity firms, and banks.
His academic credentials consist of an MBA from Oxford University, an LL.B. from the Université de Montréal, and a CEP from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris. Aside from being a member of the Barreau du Québec, he holds seats on several boards including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the One Drop International Foundation, the C.D. Howe Institute and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.
“I am honoured to be joining Sagard Holdings at this critical juncture in their development,” he said. “Sagard Holdings has grown significantly in recent years and the opportunities for the firm are only starting to become apparent.”
Aside from contributing to the global development and expansion of the firm’s platform, Tétrault will take charge of coordinating value-creation activities of the firm’s portfolio companies. He will also be joining the Sagard Holdings Management Committee.
