CI names new head of institutional business

CI Investments, a subsidiary of CI Financial, has announced accomplished industry executive and seasoned veteran Bradley Hicks as its new senior vice president, Head of Institutional.

“We are pleased to have someone of Brad's calibre to lead the continued growth of our institutional investment business in Canada and to spearhead an expansion to global markets," said Kurt MacAlpine, CEO of CI Financial. “Brad has held senior positions at both Canadian-focused and global asset managers, a valuable combination as we diversify and expand our company abroad.”

Over a 20-year career in the institutional asset management business, Hicks has built up a wealth of experience working with Canadian and global firms.

He spent nearly a decade at McLean Budden, where he took on increasingly senior positions and eventually became a vice president and partner. Over that time, he worked with a broad base of institutional clients that included pension plans, endowments, foundations, and platform distribution partnerships.

Following the acquisition of McLean Budden in 2011, Hicks stayed with MFS Investment Management for seven years where, in his capacity as managing director – Canada, he led and managed strategic relationships with defined contribution record-keepers and sub-advisory partners.

“I am excited to join one of Canada's top asset managers, which is charting a reinvigorated path to growth under new leadership,” Hicks said, praising CI’s roster of asset managers and capabilities. “I look forward to working with the team to build a leading institutional business, in Canada and globally."”

“CI has been serving institutional investors for over 20 years and these partnerships remain an important and valued part of our business,” MacAlpine said.
