It’s been on a buying spree recently but Canadian pharma Valeant said Thursday that it is to buy Sprout Pharmaceuticals for around $1 billion. Sprout is making a controversial drug which has been dubbed the ‘female Viagra’ which has just been approved by the US drugs regulator after two rejections. There was concern on Wall Street that Valeant was buying again having made 6 acquisitions already this year; its shares fell 5 per cent.
