Volatility brings some scary drops for the markets but can often provide some pleasing surges; that’s what we had again today.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index closed higher again Thursday as China’s markets regained some lost ground, oil jumped and the US GDP figures exceeded expectations to come in at 3.7 per cent.

Asian markets tracked Shanghai and ended mostly higher with Europe catching the positive wave and closing up between 3 and 4 per cent.

Wall Street was also buoyant with the three major indexes gaining around 2.5 per cent.

Overall a good day for the markets but the thing about volatility is the next session could bring surprises.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index closed up 385.1 (2.88 per cent)
