Weak prices and stocks in the resources sector have been driving the Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index lower this week but Friday’s session ended higher.

There were some gains for oil during the session but these had been largely lost again by the time the markets closed. Bombardier’s shares also dragged the TSX lower following a downgrade by Fitch during the previous session.

Wall Street also managed some slim gains while Europe was lower and Asia ended the day mixed. The yuan and Greece were both heavily in focus by investors.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index closed up 39.49 (0.28 per cent)
The Dow Jones closed up 69.15 (0.40 per cent)
Oil is trending lower (Brent $48.76, WTI $42.15 at 4.45pm)
Gold is trending lower (1114.10 at 4.45pm)
The loonie is valued at U$0.7636
