Top 50 Advisors application deadline extended to November 27

Gracing the list is not only a recognition of an advisor's work but also a validation of their process

Top 50 Advisors application deadline extended to November 27

For the eighth consecutive year, Wealth Professional Canada is ranking the top advisors in the country. After receiving an overwhelming response, WP has decided to extend the deadline to accommodate more applications. Applications for the list will now close on November 27, 2020. Gracing the list is not only a recognition of the work done by an advisor but also validation of their process.

The list takes into account overall AUM, AUM growth, organic client growth between Oct. 31, 2019 and Oct. 31, 2020 and certifications of an advisor. Last year, Faisal Karmali, first vice president, portfolio manager, investment advisor, Popowich Karmali Advisory Group, CIBC Wood Gundy, took home the top honours. Karmali was a true testament to constant improvement, moving up the list in the past three years from sixth, to fourth to the top spot.  “This is an honour for sure,” Karmali said at the time. “But it’s not just me – this is an honour for the entire team and what our group does to help our clients every day.”

“Being Wealth Professional’s top advisor really made my day,” explained 2019 top advisor Kyle Richie, Richie Group Private Wealth Management, now Richardson GMP. “We have won within our firm but to be recognized outside the firm made me proud and was humbling!”

In 2018, Chad Larson, MLD Wealth Management, Canaccord Genuity, was named the top advisor. Larson notes how his appearance on the list positively impacted his business. “I think having any kind of recognition in our field is compelling, warranted and uplifting to what we set out to do every day. Making the list, at any ranking, any number, is an honour in itself. The visibility that I, and my team, received translated into phenomenal client retention, asset gathering, revenue generation and a calming of investors.”

Other advisors who have been featured on the list have also seen positive impacts from the recognition. “Being featured was very cool! The top 50 is great recognition, it adds credibility we can use in front of new clients. The external validation is valuable when we are meeting current and also prospective clients,” said Steve Booker, Milestone Asset Management, Canaccord Genuity.

Advisors are encouraged to apply here and fill out a nomination form to see if they are one of the Top 50 Advisors of 2020. If the experiences of past listees is any indication, earning the recognition can be quite the boost for any business.  Results will be published in the January 2021 issue of Wealth Professional magazine.
