Shaw communicates disappointing numbers

Subscribers to TV, telephone and internet services declined last year for Shaw Communications, meaning a 7 per cent drop in profits for the latest quarter.

Subscribers to TV, telephone and internet services declined last year for Shaw Communications, meaning a 7 per cent drop in profits for the latest quarter. Earnings were 46 cents per share; analysts had expected 51 cents.  The lower returns were also down to the company’s costs in launching its on-demand Shomi video service. Its share of the losses in the joint venture with Rogers Communications was $13 million. Overall revenue grew by 2 per cent to $1.39 billion but analysts were again expecting more.
