Amazon has written to the Federal Aviation Administration asking for permission to test flights of unmanned drones in the Seattle area.

Amazon has written to the Federal Aviation Administration asking for permission to test flights of unmanned drones in the Seattle area. The company, based in the city, wants to push ahead with its planned Prime Air Project which would allow it to use drones to deliver products within 30 minutes of an order being placed. Amazon says that at a testing stage they are simply asking to do what thousands of model aircraft hobbyists are allowed to do. The FAA is currently considering how to regulate the use of what has always been confined to enthusiasts. Amazon is unlikely to be the only businesses wanting to use drones for commercial purposes if approval is granted. Read the full story.
