New board member for ORPP

Ontario is beefing up the board of directors for the administrative corporation overseeing the controversial pension plan

Murray Gold, a managing partner of the law firm Koskie Minsky, is joining the Board of Directors for the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan Administration Corp.

The ORPP Administration Corporation is responsible for administering the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan, which helps workers retire with appropriate funds.  It also works to help the government achieve its goal of ensuring that, by 2020, all Ontario workers are covered by the ORPP or another workplace plan so they can retire with financial security.

Gold is joining the current board having sat on many other advisory boards over the years. He also has a lot of experience when it comes to pension plans having acted as counsel of pension form initiatives ion several areas. Gold also sat on Ontario’s Technical Advisory Group on Retirement Security and has been an expert advisor to the Ontario Expert Commission on Pensions.

Within his position at Koskie Minsky, Gold specializes in pensions and employee benefits and advises on various plans coming into place in regard to compliance and best-practice issues.

Gold is also a Fellow of the Ontario Teachers’ Federation, having provided a significant contribution to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
