World equity markets will be largely focused on this week’s meeting of the Fed’s monetary policy committee and its decision on interest rates in particular.

That’s not to say there aren’t some distractions for investors as Chinese data released over the weekend showed missed targets for industrial production and investments. There is also inflation data from the Eurozone on the way this week.

Asian markets closed mostly lower Monday on caution ahead of the Fed but European markets shrugged off Asia’s sentiment in early trading with gains for most major indexes.

Toronto and New York are expected to open fairly flat.
