Harrison Street launches private wealth division to offers alts strategies to advisors, HNWIs

The investment management division of global real estate and investment firm Colliers has announced expansion of its private wealth offering.

Harrison Street Asset Management has launched a dedicated private wealth division to provide alternative investment strategies to financial advisors, wealth managers, and high-net-worth investors with significantly expanded access to the firm’s global investment capabilities.

The new division will be based in Denver and led by Mark Quam as CEO of HS Private Wealth, alongside Bill Fuhs, and Casey Frazier. Quam is the co-founder of Versus Capital Advisors, a subsidiary of Harrison Street which has been integrated, rebranded and expanded under the Harrison Street banner.

“Harrison Street is a pioneer and recognized leader in alternative assets. We’re thrilled to be able to combine our capabilities and offer private wealth clients a broader suite of innovative, institutional-quality solutions with a proven record of delivering strong returns to investors,” Quam says.

The private wealth business is given further strength by new news: Chip Saltz, formerly managing director and head of Distribution at Starwood Capital Group, who will serve as Global Head of Distribution Services; and two former Lazard Asset Management professionals - Scott Toohig and Adam Evans - who join as directors of Advisory Services for the Northeast and Southwest regions, respectively.

“We are excited to launch our dedicated private wealth platform within Harrison Street,” said Christopher Merrill, co-Founder and Global CEO of Harrison Street. “This integration builds on the strength and long-standing success of our partnership with Versus and allows us to accelerate our reach in the growing private wealth channel. As we celebrate 20 years of leadership in institutional alternative investments, we remain focused on expanding investor access to our strategies and capturing new growth opportunities, while continuing to complement our institutional platform.”

Colliers rebranded its investment management division to Harrison Street recently. The asset management firm is headquartered in Chicago and Toronto and has over $100 billion AUM on behalf of more than 900 institutional clients and 10,000 private wealth investors.

HSAM’s senior management has been bolstered by Zachary Michaud, current Co-CIO of Colliers, as managing partner & global CFO, and Stephen Gordon, current CFO of Harrison Street, as managing partner & global COO.
