Goldman Sachs swoops to hire from rival firm

New recruit is part of reshaping of firm’s investment banking division with emphasis on youth

One major firm has swooped for a leading figure at one of its rivals.

According to a report at Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs has hired Sarah-Marie Martin away from Credit Suisse Group.

A Bloomberg source reports that Sarah-Marie Martin will become a partner in Goldman Sachs’ financial sponsors group having previously helped run Credit Suisse’s own financial sponsor group throughout the Americas.

The move comes as Goldman Sachs looks to reshape its investment banking division. This has included giving more responsibility to younger executives and merging financial units. It is hoped that the changes will help it to sell its services more efficiently to corporate clients.

Martin had joined Credit Suisse back in 1995. She will now report to Alison Mass, the global head of financial sponsors at Goldman Sachs.
