Global advisor adjudicates for WP awards

Chris Polson will bring an outsider’s perspective to the WP Awards judging.

Chris Polson will bring an outsider’s perspective to the WP Awards judging.

“Unlike many of the other judges on the panel I don’t work directly in the wealth management industry,” said Polson, Vice President with Duff & Phelps Ltd., a global advisory firm. “However, my work at Duff & Phelps routinely involves the valuation of very complex and illiquid investments. I believe this unique investment analysis toolkit should be of great value when evaluating the investment capabilities and strategies of the candidates.”

Polson joins a panel of judges including Sean Cleary, BMO Professor of Finance at Queens University, Robbie Wildman a retired advisor and past president of Advocis, and Greg Pollock, president of Advocis and Ellen Bessner, a partner with Babin Bessner Spry LLP.

Polson jumped at the chance to be part of the judging process.

“I believe that it’s important to publicly recognize some of the outstanding professionals who work in this industry, and the tremendous value that they bring to their clients,” said Polson. “Differentiating between the capabilities of wealth professionals is often very difficult for clients without a deep knowledge of the investment industry, so I’m pleased to contribute my skills and experience to the judging panel in this regard.”

Duff & Phelps Ltd. is a global advisory firm with expertise in complex valuation, dispute consulting, M&A and restructuring assignments.

With nearly two decades of industry experience Polson holds an HBComm with Distinction from McMaster University, an MBA from the Queen’s School of Business, and has completed the Financial Management Program at Harvard Business School.

He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Chartered Business Valuator. Polson earned his CFA charter in 2003 and joined CFA Society Toronto’s board in 2012.
