Manufacturing sales rose 1.2 per cent to $50.8 billion in June, the second consecutive gain and the third increase since January 2015. Despite the gains in June, year-to-date sales were down 1.5 per cent from the same period in 2014. There were gains in 80 per cent of the manufacturing industries; 18 of the 21 industries. Chemical products and motor vehicles led the stronger showing while fabricated metals offset some of the gains. Quebec, Alberta and Ontario were the strongest provinces.
