Financial firm invests thousands of hours in volunteering with a stronger than expected dividend
Financial services firm Bibby has totted up 1,802 volunteering hours this year. The multinational firm, which provides financial services to small medium sized enterprises, has had its staff across North America invest their time in respective local communities as part of their Giving Something Back program.
For 2015 the company had set a target to donate 1,000 hours but has surpassed this by 80%. Alongside the time, employees across the US and Canadian offices have also managed to raise $33,000 (USD) for various charities.
The Bibby Line Group has matched the funds raised as part of the program. With such community input, a team spirit and an awards system in place for the company’s non-profit work, it could be that programs like this create a stronger work team and boost company morale.
"Giving back is a core component to our corporate culture, and we're excited to build on this momentum through the holidays and into 2016," said Leigh Lones, chief executive officer of Bibby Financial Services Americas.
"The extraordinary amount of hours our company donated this year demonstrates just how invested BFS employees are in their local communities.’
In total, Bibby USA and Bibby Canada employees have raised $53,574 after corporate gift matching and event sponsorships this year. The money raised will be given to a variety of charities that cover cancer research, animal protection and sick children.
The corporation has run the Give Something Back program since 2007 ‘harnessing the passion’ of their employees and supporting them in giving back in some way. They have awards ceremonies each year to celebrate the staff’s charitable work and the company matches whatever donation is raised by staff.
Ten Bibby North America employees also travelled to the Grand Canyon earlier this year for a hiking trip as part an effort to raise further funds. They raised more than $15,000 for seven of their charities.
