College for Financial Planning widens access to sports and entertainment designation

More advisors then ever can now hone their expertise to address the needs of a specialized type of high-income clientele.

The College for Financial Planning—A Kaplan Company now offers specialized training with its Sports and Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor or SE-AWMA program, which is geared toward financial planners but also beneficial to agents, lawyers, administrators, coaches, and other supporters.

The program was formerly only available to Merrill Lynch Wealth Management advisors by agreement, but it is now open to anybody.

The SE-AWMA is the first professional title from an approved college that is designed to give the particular expertise needed to assist these high-net-worth customers in growing, preserving, and transferring their wealth.

The new designation is being offered as athletes and entertainers find more options than ever to earn more at a younger age.

The NCAA recently began allowing collegiate players to commercialize their names, images, and likeness, resulting in a larger audience confronting unique financial planning challenges.

Furthermore, social media has paved the road for an increasing number of entertaining and industrious young performers to amass quick wealth.

“Sports and entertainment professionals face unique financial complexities over their careers, which is why they need a financial advisor who is qualified to analyze and evaluate planning strategies that address their specialized needs,” said Dirk Pantone, President of the College, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Participants in the SE-AWMA program learn how to analyze and evaluate a variety of wealth planning strategies, including qualitative planning, trusts, investments, retirement benefits, cash flow and tax planning, business and estate planning, and how to customize plans and solutions for each client's unique circumstances.

The College for Financial Planning offers a digital learning environment where students may access course materials and study tools, as well as seasoned, skilled teachers who give tailored help both inside and outside of the classroom.

The study also counts toward the College's CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification program and a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning.
