President Trump has told Canada that is must wait to re-enter NAFTA talks while hailing negotiations with Mexico as “coming along nicely.”

The president said over the weekend that Canada’s tariffs and taxes are far too high and repeated threats to tax the car industry if a deal can’t be reached.

Bloomberg reports that Trump’s harsh words came in a tweet late Friday, which also praised Mexico’s president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador as being an “absolute gentleman.”

“Deal with Mexico is coming along nicely. Autoworkers and farmers must be taken care of or there will be no deal,” the tweet said.

Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said that Mexico and the US have “been making a lot of advancements” in their talks.

Canada’s ambassador to the US David MacNaugton told BNN Bloomberg TV that if the US and Canada can reach agreement on auto manufacturing then the three countries may be able to move forward on more of the issues that affect all three countries.
