Barron's report finds female advisors managing more billions than ever.

Barron’s has just released its annual ranking of the top 100 female investment advisors in Americathe results are impressive.

According to the survey the teams of the top female advisors managed a mighty $3.53 billion in assets. That total is up from $3.17 billion in 2013 and $2.83 billion in 2012. The average size of the average size of teams is also growing, with the average number of members on a team expanding to 11.2 members from 8.5 a year ago.

Coming in at number one on the list is Karen McDonald, an advisor with Morgan Stanley in Palo Alto. McDonald's 15-member team manages $21.2 billion in assets, felivers wealth management services to the employees of seven Fortune 100 companies and 19 Fortune 500 companies. 

McDonald, the mother of a 17-year-old daughter with a disability, is active with non-profit groups that create employment opportunities for the disabled. The secret to keeping the daily life straight: "I do a ton of yoga," McDonald says.
