Interim Managing Director and tech veteran Kristina Williams has been appointed as the President and CEO of Alberta Enterprise Corporation.

"We are very pleased to have appointed Kristina Williams to the position of President and CEO for Alberta Enterprise," commented Paul Haggis, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Her deep knowledge in the financing, legal and marketing of technology ventures and her expertise within the venture capital sector in the province are a great asset for the organization.”

Alberta Enterprise supports the growth of Alberta's venture capital industry by investing in VC funds that finance technology start-ups. To date, Alberta Enterprise has committed $90 million for investment to seven VC funds and the Accelerate Fund. Savvy investing has lead Alberta Enterprise to leverage the $90 million investments into more than $765 million.

Williams, who was named as one of Edmonton’s Top 40 under 40 in 2010, said: "I am honoured to be appointed to my new position at Alberta Enterprise by the Board and look forward to continuing to foster the growth of a local venture capital community and their investments into innovation and technology in the province of Alberta, creating jobs and contributing to diversifying Alberta's economy."

Williams, who it seems can turn her hand to just about anything, has worked for several technology companies and her responsibilities have varied between corporate strategic planning, intellectual property management, international and new business development, legal, marketing, regulatory and sales.
