Sun Life(Canada) has won a major award at the 19th annual Asian Insurance Awards
At the Asia Insurance Industry Awards, the Philippine branch of Sun Life won the award for 2015’s best life insurance company.
The annual event, in its 19th year, recognises and salutes excellence in the insurance sector. Several nominees must be interviewed at the event in Singapore before the final round of judging.
To be nominated, an insurer has to fill several criteria which include setting leading professional standards for other insurers to follow; improving life insurance protection and savings levels in the market; demonstrating in-depth knowledge and understanding of the region through strategies and operations; and responsiveness to the needs of customers and intermediaries.
This was the first time the global insurer had won the award which is the highest honour in its category.
Sunlife came out on top of other insurers Metlife Japan and AIA Singapore.
This comes as the company also recently announced it was scouting for more acquisitions to boost its asset management businesses in the United States and Canada as well as Asia.
