The pipeline of candidates aiming to become Certified Financial Planners remains strong with 456 people writing the exam in October.

FP Canada says that 66% passed first time and 78% said that their top reason for writing the exam was to enhance their skills and better serve their clients. Four in ten said employer requirements informed their decision to write the exam.

"Congratulations to everyone who wrote the CFP exam successfully in October," says Tashia Batstone, president and CEO of FP Canada. "Earning Certified Financial Planner certification provides candidates with the knowledge, skills, experience, and ethics required to better serve the needs of their clients, no matter how complex those needs may be. It's a significant accomplishment!"

Most of the candidates chose to take part in person (64%) while one third chose the online option.

This year has seen the introduction of a new end-to-end education program for CFP and QAFP professionals and a redesigned QAFP certification with a new and simplified path to certification as part of FP Canada’s mission to ensure “all Canadians have access to trusted, professional, and qualified advice."

"Central to this mission is ensuring that all QAFP professionals and CFP professionals are equipped with the best possible technical and professional skills. We are thrilled to announce this new chapter for our organization to support financial planners and the Canadians they serve," Batstone said when announcing the program in April.
