Manulife Bank Canada appoints former TD Bank executive as CEO

Canada’s Manulife Bank, a subsidiary of life insurer Manulife Financial, has announced the appointment of Katy Boshart as its new chief executive officer, effective next week. Boshart is the first woman to hold this position at Manulife Bank. According to Reuters, Boshart’s most recent position is at TD Bank, where she was the senior vice president and head of customer engagement platform.

Boshart has a career spanning more than three decades in the financial industry across both the United States and Canada. In addition to being Manulife Bank’s new CEO, she will also be taking on the responsibilities of the bank’s president. Prior to her tenure at TD Bank, she served as a senior executive at Chase Bank in the U.S.

Manulife Canada CEO Naveed Irshad announced Boshart’s appointment in a LinkedIn post, lauding her leadership capabilities and industry experience.

“With over 30 years of banking experience in both the US and Canada, Katy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization. Throughout her career, Katy has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, successfully leading product, sales, technology, and operational teams through numerous innovative digital transformations. Her ability to drive business growth and deliver outstanding results with speed is truly remarkable,” Irshad wrote in his post. “Katy is a trailblazer in the industry and the perfect candidate to lead Manulife Bank’s transformation.”

Boshart acknowledged Irshad’s post with another LinkedIn post, expressing her excitement about the new chapter of her career.

“I’d like to take a minute to say thank you to all of my colleagues at TD for the 15+ years of incredible experiences. It was my honor to work side by side with you to create Legendary Customer experiences,” Boshart wrote in her post.

“Manulife Bank of Canada we have a terrific opportunity ahead of us to make decisions easier and our Customers’ lives better and I can’t wait to get started!”

Manulife Bank, based in Waterloo, manages approximately C$29 billion ($21.17 billion) in assets. This strategic leadership change comes as the bank has affirmed its focus on growth and enhancing customer engagement in its banking operations.
