This year will be remembered for the attack of the roboadvisors. At least a half-dozen such firms popped up within the space of a month last fall. The Canadian hometown player, WealthBar, piloted by son of the founder of wellknown West Coast wealth management firm Nicola Wealth Management, was early out of the gate. Co-founders Chris and Tea Nicola have made it clear that WealthBar is developing an advisor-centric business model. Paper-based advisors who are meeting clients face-to-face for hour-long conferences in suburban offices, be aware – there is a new player in town.
