Revealed: the Top 50 Leading Women in Wealth 2023

After a comprehensive nomination and selection process, Wealth Professional is proud to recognize this year’s list of Top 50 Leading Women in Wealth 2023.

This list – which encompasses leaders and change-makers from across the spectrum of Canada’s wealth industry – is a cross-section of some of the boldest, most progressive, and most authentic voices driving truly positive change in the space.

We were privileged to see how these exemplary leaders, seasoned veterans, and crusaders for financial progress have ascended through the world of wealth and selflessly shared their gifts and successes with others.

From wealth executives championing change from the top, to financial advisors acting as role models and teachers within their own spheres of influence as they achieve professional success, the 2023 Top 50 Leading Women in Wealth embody many of the best qualities that the industry aspires toward.

Sue Derlago, partner at MLD Wealth Management and one of this year’s Top 50, emphasizes listening and clear communication as crucial skills.

“The ability to talk to people comes easily to me, but actively listening to what people are trying to share is critical,” she says.

“In our industry, there’s a lot of bright people and often we’re so focused on wanting to share that knowledge that it might come at the expense of truly listening to what our clients are telling us. I ensure that I hear what they are saying.”

Sheena Schreiner of Cresco Wealth Management, Wellington-Altus Private Wealth, notes that women represent just roughly 15% of advisors in Canada’s wealth industry.

“I don’t look at it as a negative or a pitfall,” she says. “I look at it as a strength, and use that when trying to work with out clients and to generate introductions and new business.”
