While encouraging jobs data is always welcomed, the headline stories only tell part of the story. While the trend is up for hiring, it is not a uniform increase across the states. Although many states have recovered, at least in part, they tend to be the ones who were not hit as badly in the first place. Thirty two states have not recovered to their pre-recession employment levels; largely as they lost so many jobs during the downturn. So while North Dakota has seen a boom in energy related jobs, Nevada was hit badly by a collapsed real estate market and high unemployment remains. Read the full story.
