Canada could be held back by energy divisions says Oliver

Joe Oliver says he is concerned that Canada’s economic growth could be damaged by divisions over energy.

Joe Oliver says he is concerned that Canada’s economic growth could be damaged by divisions over energy. Speaking to CBC’s The Exchange the finance minister said that divisive issues such as pipelines and fracking could cause internal conflicts that would hold the country back. Oliver said that Canada needs to diversify its exports of gas and oil as they are currently almost exclusively sold to the US, which now has much of its own resources. He said that while Canada is “very wealthy” there is concern again about the global economy especially Europe.
