2023's winners for the FundGrade A+® awards

Fundata Canada Inc. has announced the 2023 FundGrade A+® award recipients.

The announcement came during the twelfth annual ‘Evening of Excellence,’ hosted at the Globe and Mail Centre in Toronto, where 65 companies were celebrated, and 373 Canadian investment funds were awarded the prestigious awards.

Janny Vincent, president and CEO of Fundata Canada Inc., remarked on the exclusivity and achievement of the awardees, stating, "The 2023 A+ Award-winning funds and managers are truly part of a very elite group and have proven their value as outstanding stewards of their investors' assets."

She emphasized the selectivity of the awards, with only approximately 8% of eligible mutual funds and ETFs being represented among the 373 winning funds. The awards recognized 176 mutual funds, 101 exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and 93 segregated funds, with three additional funds receiving the A+ Responsible Investing Award.

Lysander Funds distinguished itself among the winners, receiving awards for several funds, including the Lysander-Canso Balanced Fund and Lysander-Fulcra Corporate Securities Fund, among others.

Dynamic Funds also garnered significant recognition, securing 17 awards across categories like Canadian Short Term Fixed Income and Global Equity Balanced, highlighting its expertise across diverse asset classes.

Canoe Financial and Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. also emerged as key winners, receiving five and nine FundGrade A+ Awards, respectively. These awards spanned categories from Canadian Focused Equity to U.S. Equity, underscoring their top-tier performance across diverse markets.

The FundGrade A+ Rating, through a score-based calculation, identifies the annual 'best-of-the-best' by establishing a grade-point average based on performance.  "The FundGrade A+ rating identifies funds with not only the best risk-adjusted returns but also those demonstrating the highest level of consistency through an entire calendar year,” Vincent explained.
