Retail sales increased in June by 0.6 per cent to $43.2 billion. Sales were up in 8 of 11 subsectors, representing 64 per cent of retail trade. However after the effects of price changes are removed the volume of sales in June was flat. All provinces saw stronger sales with gasoline stations seeing the largest rises in dollar terms. Electronic products also gained as the new rules allowing wireless customers to break phone contracts took effect.
