Mitchell Finkelstein and others have been hit with more than $2.7 million in fines from the Ontario Securities Commission
. The former Bay Street lawyer and four others have also been given trading bans for ten years. The Globe and Mail reports that Finkelstein has already lost his career as a result of the insider trading of which he was convicted earlier this year. The penalties imposed were, the OSC said, to ensure that he was not in a position to adversely affect the capital markets and to send a warning to others as a deterrent.
