The under-pressure oil and gas industries have been given some stability with the announcement from Alberta’s NDP government that it will not change the royalties the energy producers pay will not change until 2017 at the earliest. Although prices are still the major concern for the companies they were also nervous of the potential royalty hikes following the NDP’s election earlier this year.
