Major insurer jumps on big data to boost group biz

Utilizing customer analytics one of Canada’s biggest group benefit providers dials the customer experience up a notch

Sun Life Financial announced the launch of its technology-based Digital Benefits Assistant this earlier this week. The new technology will help Sun Life’s plan members better understand and stay informed about the benefit plans and pension plans provided by their employer.

"Extending a helping hand to plan members when they need it, with relevant information and solutions and in a convenient manner, has been central to our vision of helping Canadians achieve lifetime financial security," said Kevin Dougherty, President, Sun Life Financial Canada. "Over the years, Sun Life Canada has continually invested in our capability to proactively engage group plan members, empowering them to take more active control of their own health and financial well-being, along with providing a greater understanding of their benefit programs and their value.”

Sun Life continues grow its group benefits business both here in Canada and in the U.S. Earlier this month it announced it was acquiring the group benefit business from U.S. specialty insurer Assurant for $975 million.

Sun Life’s newest technological innovation puts real-time data in the hands of clients when and where they need it.

"Whether they connect with us online, on their mobile device or through our customer care centres, this new technology will ensure consistent, personalized and relevant experiences for plan members," said Dougherty.
