iA Clarington beefs up active ETF line-up

iA Clarington Investments has announced a number of changes to its offerings for investors.

Additional active ETF series
The firm has introduced new active ETF series on the TSX for three of its mutual-fund mandates. In addition to IA Clarington Core Plus Bond Fund (ICPB), IA Clarington Global Bond Fund (IGLB) and IA Clarington Emerging Markets Bond Fund (IEMB), the firm has launched ETFs for:

  • IA Clarington Floating Rate Income Fund (IFRF) –  seeks to generate monthly income primarily through investments in senior floating rate loans, as well as other floating rate securities and debt obligations from North American and global corporate issuers;
  • IA Clarington Global Allocation Fund (IGAF) –aims to provide consistent income and capital appreciation primarily through investments in equity securities, fixed-income investments, and money-market instruments from around the world; and
  • IA Clarington Strategic Income Fund (ISIF) –seeks to provide a consistent income stream and capital appreciation primarily through investments in Canadian equity and fixed income instruments.

IFRF and ISIF come with management fees of 0.7%, while IGAF has a 0.85% management fee. The fee structure for active ETF series units are the same as series F, the mutual fund mandates’ fee-based series.

New active fund seeking global opportunities
iA Clarington has also announced its new actively managed IA Clarington Loomis Global Equity Opportunities Fund. Derived from the equity component of the IA Clarington Global Allocation Fund and modeled after a strategy that has proven effective for clients of Loomis Sayles across the globe, the new fund builds a concentrated portfolio of global equities in pursuit of superior potential for risk-adjusted performance.

“We are very excited to expand our partnership with iA Clarington and look forward to the opportunity to provide Canadian investors with a truly active global equity solution,” said Eileen Riley, co-portfolio manager at Loomis Sayles.

The fund’s key features include:

  • an unconstrained, high-conviction strategy that aims to identify high-quality companies with excellent prospects for attractive total return potential;
  • a disciplined, bottom-up approach to security selection; and
  • a concentrated portfolio of 35–65 holdings, representing Loomis Sayles' best ideas

Expansion of managed portfolios program
iA Clarington has also updated its flagship IA Clarington Managed Portfolios program. Renamed as iA Wealth Managed Portfolios, the offerings have been bolstered with underlying fund components from additional third-party investment managers, including:

The mandates from the newly introduced managers join those from previous partners — including Loomis Sayles, MacKay Shields, PineBridge Investments, and QV Investors — as well as funds from iA Investment Management and iA Clarington.

“The addition of several industry-leading mandates provides even greater flexibility for me and my team as we navigate an increasingly complex and volatile global market landscape," said Clément Gignac, first vice-president, Diversified Funds & Chief Economist, iA Investment Management Inc. and lead portfolio manager for the iA Wealth Managed Portfolios.
