Echelon Wealth partners with boutique investment firm

With the new partnership, Echelon aims to provide custom ETFs

Echelon Wealth Partners has announced an exclusive partnership with Calgary-based Shaunnessy Investment Counsel. The deal will enable its wealth management clients to access tactical, globally balanced, diversified and custom ETFs hosted on SIC’s platform.

A boutique investment management firm, SIC caters to ultra-high-net-worth family offices and trusts with minimum mandates of $3 million. The firm specializes in diversified, balanced, high-quality, and actively managed ETF portfolios that achieve capital preservation, long-term growth, and protection against a variety of risks that include currency, interest rate, and geographic risks.

As an initial offering, EWP is giving its clients the chance to access SIC’s proprietary Institutional Global Balanced Composite for investment accounts of $50,000 and greater.

"As an independent wealth management company, Echelon has the ability to offer its clients unique products unavailable elsewhere," said David Cusson, chief executive officer of EWP. "We pride ourselves on being client-first, and this exclusive agreement with Shaunessy Investment Counsel is an example of how we can source the best possible investment opportunities for our clients. Terry Shaunessy has an outstanding reputation and we are proud to be associated with his firm."

The current president and portfolio manager of SIC, Shaunessy has had over 30 years’ experience as a senior institutional research manager and institutional portfolio manager. He has held executive senior positions with HSBC Asset Management, Gordon Capital, Gryphon Investment Counsel and Merrill Lynch.

"We are very pleased to partner with Echelon Wealth Partners and to share with their wealth management clients our highly successful custom investment management process which has, up to now, been available only to ultra-high-net worth clients," Shaunessy said.
