​TSX gains as oil rebounds and Canada, US economies grow

There were gains today for the Toronto Stock Exchange as the price of oil edged higher while Canada and the US both reported better-than-expected growth.

The energy sector led the rise in stocks as Pacific Rubiales found offshore oil and Veresen agreed a deal to work with KKR & Co on expansion of infrastructure in BC.

The S&P TSX Composite Index closed up 161.65 (1.12 per cent)

The NYSE closed higher (Dow closed above 18,000 for the first time ever)

Oil is trending lower

Gold is trending lower

The loonie is down against the US dollar
