Ottawa acts to tackle the unfair price gap

A new piece of legislation aims to tackle the issue of goods being unfairly priced higher in Canada than in the US.

A new piece of legislation aims to tackle the issue of goods being unfairly priced higher in Canada than in the US. The federal government today tabled The Price Transparency Act which will allow the Competition Commissioner to collect and report on data showing that manufacturers or distributors are charging Canadian retailers more than their US counterparts. Retailers support the move and there is a belief that companies that unfairly price goods higher for Canadian outlets will abandon the practice as a result.
